About the Authors
Rebecca Koller holds a Master’s Degree in Special Education from the University of Utah. She has taught relationship training classes since 1992 to hundreds of people with different needs. Her work is a reflection of lessons learned from these students and her desire to provide what students want, need, and are entitled to. She currently provides behavioral consultations and “train-the-trainer” seminars for sexuality training to parents, schools and agencies in the Western states. She frequently lectures to similar groups. She is published in the Journal of Sexuality and Disabilities and is preparing to publish children’s books that promote self-esteem, safety, and using ones’ intuition. Becky makes her home along the Wasatch Front in Utah, where she loves to kayak, hike and share adventures with her nine grandkids.
Winifred Kempton is a hero to many in the field of special education. She passed away in August of 2010 and will be remembered for her brave advocacy for the education of people with disabilities. She held a Master’s Degree from Bryn Maur College and certification by the Academy of Certified Social Workers (ACSW) and the Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (ASSECT). Her education and professional experience working with people with developmental disabilities and work at Planned Parenthood of Southern Pennsylvania combined to make her the pioneering force behind social sexual skills development. She has many curricula, books, journal articles, and media presentations to her credit and lectured and consulted internationally on this topic for over 45 years. Mrs. Kempton and her husband Edgar, are the parents of three and grandparents of five. She lived in Pennsylvania and continued to consult, write, and direct sexuality education for people of all abilities until her passing. |

Our History Though recently published in 2007, PossAbilities is the culmination of Rebecca’s 25 year career teaching people with disabilities skills to help them know and protect themselves. In many cases, the students taught the teacher as they journeyed together to create a course that was easy to use, understand, and apply. Rebecca originally published Choosing Relationships in 2002. After collaborating with her personal hero and mentor, a more comprehensive course was developed and the PossAbilities were endless. The need for such education has never been greater and now it is accessible and easy to use.
